Criminal Law

Bill McLaughlin has extensive experience in criminal law in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  He represents people who are accused of committing crimes or other offenses, including misdemeanors, felonies, and driving under the influence (DUI/DWI).  He will fight for you from the initial bail arraignment hearing through the jury verdict, keeping you informed of all options at every stage of your case.

Here’s an overview of some recent results (Initials are used rather than full names in order to protect clients’ privacy):

Commonwealth v. J.L. - motion to quash granted, all felony charges dismissed including F1 aggravated assault

Commonwealth v. Y.C. - prosecution withdrawn on DUI charges where there was no proof that the client had actually operated the vehicle

State of N.J. v. R.F. - motion to suppress granted due to unconstitutional search of a motor vehicle

Commonwealth v. C.H. - motion to quash filed, prosecution subsequently withdrawn on all charges, including F3 riot

State of N.J. v. G.L. - jury verdict of not guilty on lead charge of sexual assault

Commonwealth v. Z.T. - ARD granted for felony charges including corruption of minors and receiving stolen property

Commonwealth v. A.W. - motion to suppress granted due to unconstitutional pedestrian stop in Philadelphia

State of N.J. v. D.R. - jury verdict of not guilty on lead charge of first-degree armed robbery

Commonwealth v. H.B. - ARD granted on F3 retail theft charges

Commonwealth v. C.B. - not guilty verdict on all charges, including theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy

Commonwealth v. M.R. - motion to suppress granted due to unconstitutional pedestrian stop in Philadelphia

Commonwealth v. D.G. - judgment of acquittal granted after prosecution failed to present evidence to sustain charges including assault, recklessly endangering another person, possessing an instrument of crime, and conspiracy.

This is a sampling of results Bill has obtained in Pennsylvania and New Jersey courts.  In addition to these cases, he has obtained favorable plea results in many other matters.  Each case is different, and different cases call for different approaches.  Experience and tenacity - the refusal to give up - will get you to the best possible result.  Call to set up an appointment to discuss your case.
